Authenticity is key to a long and happy life. Besides, that other version of you is a lie! Remember, if it costs you who you truly are or your well-being, the price is too high to pay!

Isabelle here with another important reflection for the week. As you can see, during the birth of this quote, I was very much in a pensive/reflective state of my life. I was thinking about how much Isabelle had truly allowed herself to be, well... Isabelle! My Loves, I've always been one to want to be "perfect" and to not make mistakes, but most of all, I've always been characterized by putting others before myself. Sometimes, I've allowed others to have smiles on their faces at the cost of my discomfort. Yes, I've been a self-proclaimed "people pleaser". In fact, if you look up "people-pleasing" in the dictionary you'll more than likely find my picture adorning the page.

This being my truth for a long time, I began thinking... have I really been the "best Isabelle" I could be, or have I just created the "best Isabelle" that could exist for the outside world? Has the version of myself that has been walking around the day-to-day allowed herself to grow, flourish, and shine with her own sparkle/shine, or has she been putting on a façade for both society and herself? What a difficult predicament to be in, right, My Loves? That's exactly the habit that I have been working so hard to break. Don't worry if you're on the same path as I am... I haven't quite mastered the art either, but I have hope we'll eventually get there... small steps and small breaths at a time.

I've learned that pleasing others, My Loves is a difficult task. A task that never ends, drains all the time/energy that you have, never brings true joy, and never leads to the goals/dreams we set for ourselves. I hope that, with this quote, My Loves, we can all look deep within and ask ourselves, "Is this version of myself the version I've constructed for me, or have I constructed it for the world? Am I truly happy with this version of myself that I am today, or am I in dire need of changing something in my life?" If you realize that you are falling short of pleasing and making proud the person that most matters Ahem yourself Ahem, then you are paying too high a price, but fret not! It's never to late to turn that ship around and start working on that person, that YOU, that you really want to see reflected before you in the mirror. Let's work together to make the world more authentic, more kind, more accepting, and more loving to the versions of ourselves that truly leave a beautiful and indelible mark in the world. Be YOU, My Loves... Remember... everyone else is already taken.
