The more you repress your thoughts and emotions, the more you try and trap yourself in a box or put on a façade for the world, the more you try and fit in a mold that’s not meant for you the more you’ll feel you’re suffocating.
Let your inner being flow and be free. Be yourself. Don’t be your own emotional/mental prison guard. Celebrate what you are and who you are unapologetically. It’s the only way to be 🧘🏻♀️💚🧚.
My Lovelies,
In the past few quotes I've shared with you, we've discussed the power of accepting ourselves and the healing effects that come from finding a place/group where we feel belong. This is all wonderful when we get to that point of course, but what happens before we get to that point of self-acceptance and understanding? What is that journey and process like? What are the repercussions of not being completely ourselves?
This week's quote came about at a moment when I reflected on this part of my life's journey. I was in a moment where I realized that the more I tried to repress those parts of myself that I did not approve of or did not like that I found it harder to move forward in my life's journey with this version of myself. Mind you, I want to clarify that these were parts of me that did not cause any harm to anyone, they were just parts of me that I was too "shy", "scared", and/or "ashamed" to accept were part of my nature. It was not until I looked at myself and my situation that I realized that the more I told myself that these parts of me were "made up" or "not real" or "unacceptable" that I was actually allowing those parts to bleed more and more deeply into my being. It really did become, what I like to call, the "teenager" effect where the more you're told no the more something becomes desirable and/or attractive. I was doing exactly that to myself.
I want to clarify, once again, that neither I nor this quote condone anyone harming anyone else. What I mean by accepting all parts of you or all parts of your nature is for us as human beings to allow ourselves to leave our authentic print on the earth we walk on. To allow those parts of us that don't harm anyone and that at the same time make us who we are to flow freely. I would like to quote one of my favorite actresses here if I may, the lovely Angelina Jolie, who once said "My thing has always been, as long as you don't intend to hurt anybody, everything else is fine. Be open, be free, create, think..." Don't allow what others think to stop you from being you, from being happy, and from making the life you want to live because as this quote reminds us, the more of an unauthentic life you live the more those parts are going to keep bleeding out from inside you anyway. Wear your truth gently towards the world but at the same time proudly on your shoulder. You only get one chance at this life, the least you can do is live it fully and truly.
XOXO Isabelle 😘❤️ XOXO
